Evaluation 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

We decided to make our teaser trailer accessible on different technologies such as computers, TV, Smartphone’s etc. We chose to do this because then more people would be able to view it wherever they were as most people have Internet access or a phone with the Internet on it, by making it available on these different technologies it also made it easier for people overseas to view it therefore making it available for a bigger audience.

By making my poster and magazine cover accessible on the Internet it was therefore seen by more people even if they aren’t into horror or thriller films, Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook are widely used social networking sites all around the world, so by putting them on these sites they will be spread around and talked about.

The effect we wanted our teaser trailer, poster and magazine cover have on the audience it was targeted at is that they were intrigued by it and wanted to see it, I think that they work well together as they all have the same character on the front so the audience can relate them together, they also all stick to the conventions of horror or thriller promotional products.

Paranormal Activity Audience Summary

The producers marketed the movie, giving it a high expectations from audiences. People who were disappointed by seeing it as it didn't live up to the 'hype' are angry and are compelled to write negative reviews.

We found that film critics praised the film, giving it high reviews, whereas most of the audience reviews we found, were negative.
